Cutting Edge of Computer Science

Year 11 and 12 pupils had a taste of the latest and most innovative technology last week at the Computer Science in Action event in London.

The event was organised by the leading provider of external educational study days in the UK, ttp Education in Action. It covered major current and up-and-coming areas in computer science, including computer vision, software development, algorithms, pure programming and computer systems. Five renowned speakers were also featured, from universities, industries and the media.

Notably, as the discussion of privacy on the internet and online crimes is moving into the public eye, Cybersecurity Engineer Jaimi Anderson explained the increasingly relevant concept of digital forensics. The exciting developments in artificial intelligence were further covered by Chairman and Co-Founder of the Open Data Institute Sir Nigel Shadbolt.

In addition to being incredibly informative and fascinating, the girls benefited from a special session with hints and tips for examination success.

The girls who attended all had a great day, and not only have a fresh insight into the constantly developing field of computer science, but also have an advantage as they move into working in such a competitive industry.
