The Gift of Opportunity
Sheffield Girls' is committed to educating girls from all backgrounds and this is possible thanks to donations from alumnae, former staff and friends to the Sheffield Girls' Bursary Fund. Year 12 Bursary Ambassador, Lene joined Sheffield Girls' in Year 7 and shares with us a bit about her time at school and her aspirations for the future.
Currently one in every seven pupils in the senior school at Sheffield Girls’ receives some financial assistance and of those, four out of every ten recipients are receiving a full 100% bursary. However, each year we have to turn away girls each year for whom a Sheffield Girls’ education would be life changing.
Bursaries are possible because of the generosity of our alumnae and former staff and we are so grateful to all those who choose to support bursaries at Sheffield Girls. From as little as a £5 per month regular gift, to naming a bursary, your gift makes a huge difference.
All gifts are processed by the Girls’ Day School Trust (charity number 306983) and are allocated directly to the school. 100% of every donation, including Gift Aid, will go directly to our girls. You can make a gift through the GDST's secure online portal or with a donation form (download here).

Ella's Story
Head Girl and Year 13 student Ella joined Sheffield Girls' in Year 12 (lower sixth) and shares her experiences of settling into a new school and her plans for next year.
“My journey at Sheffield Girls’ began in 2015 and was only made possible through a bursary. I look back at my time in the School as one of the best phases of my life. The School instilled a strong work ethic in me and was the place which gave me faith in my own abilities and hope that I could do something amazing with my future.
I would not have had as much fighting power within myself if I hadn’t had the experience of being believed in by all my teachers and given the opportunity to thrive at Sheffield Girls’. This is why a bursary is so important. It truly is life changing."

"Attending Sheffield Girls’ gave me a very thorough and high level of education. From learning Latin conjugations, to the meticulous teaching of English grammar, these lessons have never left me and have served me well throughout my journalism career.
Most importantly, the ethos that was taught while I was at the school - to aim high and that women can achieve anything they want to – has helped give me the self-belief that I can make things happen if I really want them, despite things not always going to plan.
