The Sheffield Girls’ Alumnae Network, alongside the wider GDST Alumnae Network, is the largest women’s alumnae network of its kind. With a membership of 70,000 women across the world students can access advice, mentoring and opportunities for professional development from the day they start Year 12 continuing throughout their career.

We love seeing alumnae back at school and our door is always open. From careers support for current students, supporting a student through the bursary fund, coming back for a reunion or just popping in for a cup of tea, there are so many ways to keep in touch.

I hope that you can find out more through these web pages, and please do get in touch with me for more information or if you'd like to reconnect with the school community.

Our Alumnae

Our Alumnae represent a huge range of careers and professions and we’ve captured some of these through our alumnae profiles. Detailing their own stories and professional challenges and achievements our alumnae have reflected on their time at school and the advice that they would give to current sixth formers now.

Get Involved

We would encourage all of our former pupils and staff to join the alumnae network by making sure that your contact details are up to date so that you receive news, updates and invitations to events and reunions from school.

We sometimes get in touch with alumnae to connect them with our current sixth formers, for careers advice, in-school employment events, and other events.

The Bursary Fund

The Bursary Fund at Sheffield Girls’ ensures that girls from all backgrounds have the opportunity to attend the school, irrespective of financial circumstance.

We are able to support girls through their time in school thanks to gifts from alumnae, former staff and friends of the school. Find out more about the impact a gift to the bursary fund can make.

Sheffield Girls' Digital Archive

Sheffield High School for Girls was founded in 1878 by four women with a vision for improving education for girls.

We have begun to digitise the School’s archive materials - including photographs, school magazines from 1880-1948 and even the Armistice Pageant from 1920 presented to the Headmistress, Miss Aitken.

Our ambition is to continue to add to this resource and we hope you enjoy exploring the materials digitised so far.

GDST Alumnae Network

Sheffield Girls’ is a member of the Girls’ Day School Trust, a family of 25 schools across the UK. All of our Sixth Form students also have access to the GDST Alumnae Network, a family of over 70,000 women, the largest all female network of its kind nationally.

The GDST Alumnae Network brings together alumnae based in the UK and overseas, making connections, sharing news, passing on careers and university expertise, hosting professional and social events, and helping alums link to old and new friends alike – from their old schools and from others.

To find out more and register for free visit the GDST Alumnae Network Website and search on LinkedIn for the GDST Alumnae Network group.
